With your generous gift, SCOEN wants to ensure that individuals diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) receive appropriate follow-up services including counseling on phone, access to a medical care through referral, Personal Protective Gears, sanitary facilities and other support services like nutrition. The primary population focus are 85 families of individuals identified with sickle cell disease that we have already been working with, other 15 individuals/families with SCD be included.
Compassion hearts is a call for community to step up, find little ways to help SCD children during COVID-19. The impact of COVID-19 pandemic has left the SCD children with no support considering SCD as neglected disease. These children have been disconnected from us for over 12 months now. These families are not equipped to deal with the pandemic. With all diseases, the SCD child is always most at risk, as of May 2021 7 children are positive. The project will affect over 100 sickle Cell families
The $4,000 will help provide information, care kits-emergency supplies like; immune boosters, nutritious foods ( a tray of eggs,10Kgs of maize flour, 5Kgs or rice, 5 Kgs of Beans and 5kgs of sugar) each child, 2 Bars of soap & personal protective gears for Sickle cell anemia children and their loved one. Will also helps continue with our essential counseling programme to these families on phone to ensure they are alone. May God bless you all as you donate also consider sharing this cause.
The long-term impact of this virus in the resource-poor communities we work in is devastating. Food will become less secure forcing the most vulnerable into hunger, information will not reach the most remote communities, health systems will be strained. These families will still be able to continue with normal life even after. The project will reduce the impact of food crisis that capable of causing malnutrition, sickle anaemia children and diseases related to poor feeding practices.
