Challenge

Many rural indigenous villages in Chiapas-Mexico lack clean water and sufficient financial resources or adequate training to address health problems. Despite being exposed to home or work incidents in their environment (houses, cornfields, educational centers, roads and highways) they do not have the basic tools to address some of the most common emergency problems in the most efficient and conservative way.

Solution

Access to clean water and training in first aid give the possibility to rural and indigenous Chiapas communities to improve their own community health and face more proactively and effectively the medical emergencies that may occur in their daily lives, not always having the possibility of reaching quickly specialized emergency centers.

Long-Term Impact

This project will benefit the physical health of approximately three hundred people in rural villages in Chiapas for approximately 3 years thanks to the use of long-lasting clean water family filters and 6 villages will each have eight people trained in their communities to serve the most common medical emergencies. Aguacero wants to reproduce this project in more villages in Chiapas over 3 years.
