“LEAVING NO ONE BEHIND”

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) solid Grant Fund books CFYDDI a place in the next global development agenda!

Little did we know the dream would come this first and here come one visitor to the centre who left a comment in our visitors book that reminded us that  “The place was dusty and might be with jiggers” to our gratitude this has been overcome! This is a testimony that block block you continue to help us overcome our community challenges and make service delivery too possible. Things are happening for the first time in a small community with electricty in place. childreen and youth enjoying watching televesion programs and cartoons on the weekend something that is not famous in our community households here. we are able to screen HIV/AIDS Documentaries for the first time!

How Does the story begin?

AHF decide to include philanthropic efforts as one part of its strategy to control the HIV epidemic, by providing financial support to needy charitable organizations worldwide who share AHF’s goal of ending HIV/AIDS to which CFYDDI is undertaking leadership on the same.  Therefore, in accordance with AHF’s evaluation policies and procedures, AHF decided to award a grant to CFYDDI as an organization whose activities advance the goals of:

(1) preventing new HIV infections

(2) increase awareness of HIV status

(3) provide access to quality HIV care

(4) provide leadership on community solutions to HIV

Who is AHF?

AHF is an expert foundation in the delivery of HIV/AIDS medical care and an influential advocate. AIDS Healthcare Foundation is on the forefront of efforts to control AIDS globally.  they develop and advocate for effective prevention strategies, work towards expansion of HIV testing worldwide and play a major role in the scale-up of antiretroviral treatment delivery.

AHF provides treatment, care, and support services to more than 180,000 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S., Africa, Asia, Latin America, Caribbean, and Eastern Europe.

And as a result, this opportunty has seen a timely effective occupation of the resource center equiped with reading tables, bookshelves and the facilities that enable the administrative operation of the resource center in a confortable and secure place built on the foundation started through the global giving fundrasing campaign!

This instant development has created a lot of excitement among the community and most especially the childreen, teachers and youth who frequent the place to read, watch TV, relax and to play indoor games. And to the entire staff is such a timely dream come true resulting from the comfornt the place brings to them while in service delivery .

Aware of the fact that this important work you have started in us demands a committed work force and Huge resources that you have invested in us, is the reason we are writing to express our gratitude for helping building our community development efforts from the ground up through all your individual and collective huge contributions extended to CFYDDI through the Global Giving fundraising platform and many other platforms to include ÖRAG Österreichische Realitäten-AG for their corporate social responsibility extended to CFYDDI center and its program delivery from inception, various medical students from UK doing their elective placements here in Uganda through CFYDDI, Newcastle University Students Union, TeamMed from Australia and the community at large that find a very reason to mobilise and provide labour, leadership, advise and participate to build an extremely extra-oridinarly community that is empowered enough to fight diseases, poverty and ignorance. our appreication to you all is beyond measure.

Hello CFYDDI Development partners,

The community continues to appreciate your power to make a difference each time in the lives of rural community family lives through your contributions to CFYDDI program areas.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our rural communities most precious resource — our children — youth and mothers of this nation get started on the path to learning in the earliest years for the children and youth means they are far more likely to succeed in school and life to start on a future while the mothers are able to start all again to help their own families.

As we promote the values of the community library in developing love for a reading and learning culture in the rural community, we have served a total of 926-library user’s including children, youth men and women for the period of February- May 2015 and received 49 special visitors signed in our visitor’s book. These include Medical students and doctors, teachers, researchers, government officials, development partners, members of various civil society organizations those we collaborate with and those seeking our partnership.

Just as we mention, we have seen the center hosting important discussions on health, entrepreneurship, modeling young leaders, hosting community events and trainings in business and computer as well as providing a very spacious and quite environment for students to have private reading and doing their homework and the center is a host venue to conduct lectures for David’s discipleship ministry a one year course for students taking two hours every Sunday from  2:00pm- 4:00pm.

For the first time the center has opened up a mentorship holiday programs for school going youth with real work life skills to provide practical and job related competences to students and the pioneer being Akampa victor Emmanuel a senior two student had all the reasons to be grateful and thankful to the centre for nurturing him. Akampa who was also the lead support mobilizer throughout the one month research by Ms. Anitah from UK to investigate “what are the cause of school absence amongst children aged (16-18) years in full time education in a semi-rural community in Uganda” In his own words said, ‘’the Centre for Youth Driven Development Initiative has given me an excellent opportunity in understanding how organizations operate. Attending weekly meeting, developing a work plan, writing minutes and reports, how to receive visitors and arrange books in order was challenging but helpful.  I have been able to appreciate why it’s said that time is money! Arriving and keeping time was key as each person had to sign in an arrival book. This kept me on my toes even when it rained I had to ensure I am on time. This place was totally different to school setting and as a young person I would wish for another chance AGAIN”

CFYDDI as a GlobalGiving partner, welcomed to the center GlobalGiving’s East Africa Field Representative, Kelly Kurz.

Kelly enjoyed the briefs from the respective department heads and in his own words; he said, “My visit to CFYDDI met my expectations over and above!" He was particularly moved by how energetic the centre team was with a focused shared vision. His mention on SHARE/leadership program focus on youth health he said was key as he recognized that youth in Uganda have very limited opportunities and those in rural communities may not have a chance to find any.

Going forward we are looking forward to the opportunity to have the center fully equipped to a modern resource center that will eventually serve the interests of every users and we appreciate all our development partners who have given the community a benefit to development.

Many of you will be taken by surprise as CFYDDI makes this giant step! Who saw this coming?

We hope that you’re extremely excited as we write history. We have moved to occupy the Resource center after roofing and fixing shutters! Everything else will find us there! Woooooh

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) brings an enthusiasm big push for fresh starts and endless possibilities with a grant for roofing and shutters making the dream to occupy arrive as a surprise faster than we expected!

Dear development collaborates, Happy 2015! The New Year brings and renews our commitment to community service in previously underserved communities. AHF grant Award to roof and buy shutters made us unstoppable and nothing would hold us back to move to the centre. Just as the first day, this is one of the many highlights’ of another rewarding year for CFYDDI.

Children, youth, students, CFYDDI Staff with volunteers and teachers  participated in moving books, shelves and tables to the New resource centre block on the afternoon of 13th/ December /2015. It was marvelous to see how the new resource Center Block centre has become very much a part of the community life.

At CFYDDI, we have received your support, courage and celebrate the successes each day.  We've very much appreciated the opportunity to engage with you, sharing our stories, and spark dialogue. We hope we’ve been able to contribute in some small way to your success as well. You may ask how we could be in position to do that. But wait a minute, every time a person gives for a noble cause and being able to see physically what has been achieved, you receive an extraordinary power of fulfillment being a part of a chain of people who have added value and impacted lives of thousands of struggling communities enjoy services that would not have been there in the first place and these are the small ways here at CFYDDI we hope that we have contributed to your success.

The fact is that, the facelift shows we have revolutionalized the community and just Three days after we moved to the resource centre, people willing to join the team continue to be registered! We have Tusubira Jackieline a social worker student from the department of social work and social administration from Makerere University who come to the center requesting for a field practice attachment with CFYDDI said, “It was a fine place to be and learn as well as offer service”. In Uganda its compulsory and a vital component for every university student to undertake a fieldwork practice supervised by both an academic staff and staff from the hosting agency.  As if that is not enough, parents in the community far from the village in kimwanyi and near are contacting us for job employable opportunities for their children who have finished school but cannot find jobs.

Joanitah Nabayunga is now undergoing mentorship and training for a new role at the centre as we expand. So you can start to feel the weight of our contribution to building a nation of skilled Ugandans with an opportunity to integrate knowledge learned in the classroom with supervised practice in the field. We cannot underestimate our contribution to prepare young people for employment.

with the promising pace of events the community are thinking that we have the capacity to help orphan children and they are asking us to think about doing something about it and at the sometime bringing their children to see if we can help beyond what we are providing at the youth center.

On the other learning front, local leadership, central government line departments, health units, partner grassroots community clubs, children, adolescents, youth, teachers, medical doctors and student doctors, housewives and the community at large have expressed gratitude towards the vision of thinking strategically of a youth centre hub at the rural ndazabazadde village.

Friends, 2015 forecast are quite ambitious!! Now that you continue to support and have helped us take such a giant step, keep your eyes open! The youth center will host big events with bigger populations of users, a quite place that allows concentration and if fully furnished operations will be much easy and quick to coordinate in a safer place.

You’ve been an enthusiastic worldwide team in helping step by step achieve and focus on a shared goal. CFYDDI and the community will forever be proud of you all. you’ve engaged digitally at your costs to help CFYDDI greater vision be realized.

We are extremely grateful to your support in making our work possible every year with your generous contributions. Your contributions help us take this important work forward, mobilize community for a joint action; we still have a lot that continues to desire your continued individual and collective support. Let us not stop at this. help us spread the word.

Kindly join us in appreciating our partners who are helping us bring services delivery down to the community through the various Funded programs and project and these include ÖRAG Österreichische Realitäten-AG, AHF, EFIL, BMA Information Fund which provides Health Education materials, International AIDS Society (IAS) for our paid up membership and GYCA.

In appreciation and gratitude,

Enoch

At a youth training
At a youth training

Friends, it’s always a special moment to share our milestones you have helped us accomplish and on behalf of CFYDDI we kindly accept our heartfelt appreciation to everyone of you for your ongoing participation and support. We have been launching youth clubs in schools and a total of about 4oo members have subscribed and next year January we expect to host 60 respective leaders from the 6 schools on leadership and entrepreneurship which will be a week’s long training.

The young beneficiaries, boys and girls, children, entrepreneurs, volunteers and  staff are excited that its possible with the considerable fundraising we could occupy the new office early next year! We have postponed quite a number of events, trainings, consultations and conventions as we predict early next year we could be near or able to take on our new space and now we will continue to handle the small activities at our old place.

It is our hope that we can move into greater action through this festive season and we cloud our social networks with post inspiring actions that are happening in our community to move away from as smaller rented place to an accommodative operational area that is sustainable and support the vitality of life. There could be friends, associations, corporations, schools, social entrepreneurs, student’s movements, universities who are looking out for small initiatives to help and they have no idea to find us. It could also be during a coffee break while with fellow staff you work with at a restaurant that you could help tell our story and life will never be the same! Marvin Kisitu a SHARE Club member from Nakwero Secondary School when he learnt about the new office site construction, he prayed that the social centre starts re-skilling young people and especially those who drop out of school.

Bagala Joyce from Sir Apollo kagwa secondary school says that she strives to resist relationships in the time of HIV/AIDS mounted by peer pressure but her hope was the continued mentorship at CFYDDI that is educating anyone and everyone about HIV and empowering those who could be victims of circumstance

This position has strengthened our Community Mobilization.
