Northern Ghana is primarily a rural, subsistence farmer-based economy. It is necessary therefore for its human and natural resources to be appropriately harnessed if there is to be a reduction in poverty. Land tenure systems are often confused and insecure especially for "settlers" and women. Citizens are alienated from decision-making institutions and often denied their fundamental rights to access basic services.

To address natural resources-related problems as cited above, this project seeks to deliver on 3 Outcomes: 1. Improve communities' understanding of Natural Resources Governance (NRG) for poverty reduction by decision makers at the local, district and regional levels by September 2019. 2. Enable poor rural households to negotiate and implement equitable agreements and concessions for Community Management of Natural Resources through the institutionalisation of Community Natural Resources Manag

Long-Term Impact

The project will lead to the establishment and capacity building of 15 Satellite Natural Resource Learning groups improving their capacity to advocate on key natural resource management issues Provide a platform for continuous engagement between forest user groups and local government authorities on sustainable natural resource management
