This project will address the need by establishing one-acre proper gardening and modern rearing methods of 400 local poultry to expand orphans planting capability skills, which can ultimately increase income and food security for orphans. The economic benefits of this project are long term establish one acre - based vegetable gardens and poultry rearing in Chamazi farmland tended primarily by children, and using low-maintenance water and irrigation systems that will minimize laborious.
It is estimated that there are over 3.1 million children living without parents in Tanzania. 1.2 million are orphaned due to AIDS/HIV. For many of these children, an orphanage is the only place they have to find food, shelter, and medical attention. Chamazi Orphanage centre is housing 200 orphans children. Food and nutrition security remains a significant challenge for these 200 orphans children for some time now which needs to be tacked.
This project will establish one-acre proper gardening and modern rearing methods of 400 local poultry to expand orphans planting capability skills. Also will construct poultry house and drill one borehole which will supply water for domestic use and irrigation in Chamazi orphanage farmland tended primarily by children, and using low-maintenance water and irrigation systems that will minimize laborious.
The Chamazi Orphanage will be food secure throughout the year from the one acre farmland. Crop production would take place all year round with the drilled of the borehole and constructed poultry house. Reduced poverty levels, as the 34 older orphans and 16 caregivers of Chamazi orphanage centre will have acquired livelihood skills in vegetable & fruits production and Poultry rearing by the end of project life.
