This project in Kenya will sponsor the training for High School graduates in pertinent skills such as computer literacy, accounting, and engineering. These skills give students a solid foundation to succeed after high school so that they can begin healthy, productive, and independent lives. This program will also sponsor High School graduates as they pursue university and college degrees in Kenya.
Orphaned and vulnerable children are most susceptible to poverty and lack of education. Without a support structure, orphans graduate from high school only to return to previous conditions of poverty. Education for orphans must continue after high school - in the form of college, university or vocational training. The Vocational College will educate 60 students a year in skills needed to obtain work and pursue higher education.
Heroes of the Nation is committed to see high school graduates pursue higher education. This Global Giving project will expand Heroes of the Nation's ability to send high school graduates to college. We currently have 16 graduates who have qualified for higher education: 5 in university, 10 in college and 1 in vocational college. This Global Giving project will help these students finish their education.
The HTN Graduate Sponsorship Fund will equip students to be independent and productive members of their community, the township of Nyahururu. Learned skill-sets will enable them to get a job in their field of study.
