We work in partnerships with refugee-led organizations across the African continent. These organisations delivering critical services to their communities including health, education, livelihoods, and safety. By providing direct funding, capacity-building training and coordination support to these groups, we work to ensure that refugees themselves are leading the decisions that impact their communities.
86% of the world's refugee population live in the Global South and over 60% reside in cities, not camps. However, the international system relies mainly on refugee camps to support those in need. As a result, over 12 million urban refugees struggle to survive, facing precarious living conditions, discrimination, exploitation, and a lack of access to basic services. We work to change that by putting refugees at the center of solutions, and provides the tools to amplify their voice.
Your donation will provide general operational support for our organization, allowing us to continue to focus on strengthening refugee-led organizations and advocating for the inclusion of refugees in decision-making processes. Urban refugees can often be invisible, and it can difficult for humanitarian actors to provide support. Urban refugee-led groups therefore provide crucial support to their community members, and strengthening their capacities helps enhance their abilities to do so.
By providing refugee-led organizations the knowledge and skills to strengthen and expand the support they provide to their communities, our work ensures the ongoing sustainability of community protection efforts for urban refugees. Furthermore, our focus on ensuring that refugees' perspectives are amplified on an organizational level means that the programs they enact best meet the needs of their communities.
