His mother's eyes filled with tears of anxiety when he said, "I want to become a doctor." Sabeer's (name changed) father has vices and spends most of his earnings on it. His mother being a housewife, finds it difficult to run the family and educate her children. Sabeer is in 7th standard and his sister, in 2nd standard. They can continue their studies with subsidized tuition costs in their neighbourhood government school. However, this was not enough - he could barely pass the courses each year, and his difficult social and economic circumstances stood in the way of his dreams.

Sabeer is studying well after he joined the coaching class conducted by New Life. With the conducive environment and the support systems provided by the evening sessions, he is able to score substantively higher than before. His confidence in his goal also seems to have improved. With continued support and his perseverance, his dream will come true very soon.

There are many children in the Kajapet coaching class, whose parents are involved in activities that conflict with law. There are children of sex workers, thieves, hooligans, etc. If these children are not coached and helped in their studies, there is every chance that they drop out from school. They are very much vulnerable to abuse and there are high chances that they also turn juvenile delinquents. The continued support you give through your donations help New Life to guide them and see that there is a reduction in the number of children turning delinquents. Thank you for being a partner in this wonderful project.

In the month of December the children wrote their half yearly exams. The results are being awaited not only by the children but also by our teachers.

The project is being funded last quarter through local donations and borrowals from friends. If the project gets more support the children can be accomodated in a better place. This can be done from the year 2017 as the project is awarded the Global Giving's Community Grant of  $10279.08 which is expected to be received in the first quarter of 2017.

Dear Donors, continue to support our project and thus these lovely children. Support their dreams by helping them to continue their studies. Also kindly spread words to your friends and relatives who are generous like you. Your words carry weight.

Thanking you and wishing you a happy, peaceful, prosperous and blessed NEW YEAR!

The Teachers' Day was celebrated in the Kodappu coaching class on the 5th of September. The children honoured the teachers by giving variety of cultural events. Dance, drama, speech, gymnastics, etc. were performed. The secretary and the teacher were asked to cut the cake as part of the celebrations. Then we had the fun time. Teachers and the staff danced with the children. Thank you dear children for entertaining us and for honouring your dear teachers on their special day.

During the last quarter we met the expenses for running the coaching class were met from the local donations we mobilised and the shortfall had to be managed by borrowing from friends and wellwishers. The children in the slums we work, require your generous donations to coach them in their studies. Kindly keep supporting us to run the coaching classes. Also support us by spreading words to your friends and relatives. Small acts when performed by many can transform the lives of these deprived children.

Mathi (name changed) is studying in 9th standard. She has one elder sister and another younger sister. Her mother died when she was studying in third standard. Her father got remarried and left the three children uncared. Mathi's elder sister went to work and took care of her younger sisters. She struggled hard to educate the children. She got married some time back and her husband is very cooperative and helps her in educating the children.

Mathi is a bright student. She wanted help in coaching her and she joined New Life's coaching class. Seen her mother in the death bed with no money to pay for treatment,  she wants to become a doctor. She wants to treat the poor patients at no/less cost. We are happy to support a child like Mathi. And our coaching class provides the required support to her.

All this is possibe only through donors like you. A generous small contribution from you can make a big difference in the future of our children like Mathi.

Thank you dear donors.

Dear donors and wellwishers,

Greetings from New Life!

Prem is the son of a coolie Mr. Raja and Mrs.Seetha a house wife (names changed). The family income is very low at $100 per month. Prem has an elder brother and a younger sister. His parents are less educated and want their children to study well. So they are sending the three children to school. Prem is an average student. He studies in 11th standard in the nearby Government School. He wants to be coached in his studies. But the parents could not do that.

Mrs. Seetha says, "Though I want my children to study well, I could not coach them in their studies. I studied upto 6th standard. My husband also could not spend time on children's studies as he comes home very tired after long hours of hard physical work. It was then we admitted Prem to the coaching class of New Life. Before going to the coaching class he used to score 45% marks. But after joining the class, we can see the improvement in him. In the 10th standard Public Exams he scored 62% of marks. We are happy about it. I hope he will score more in his 12th Public Exams, thanks to the coaching class. I dream of him becoming a teacher and lead a good life unlike now. I believe this will happen. "

Children like Prem whose parents are less educated or illiterates are admitted in the evening tuitions of New Life. They are being coached byan experienced teacher. Their scores have improved much and their interest in studies too has improved. This is all possible only by the noble support we get from you dear donors.

During this quarter, we have not received any donations. The expenses of running the coaching classes are borne by borrowings from wellwishers. Hence we appeal to you to donate generously and also morally support the project  by spreading words about our work to your near and dear ones. Your words carry weight and we are sure that the project could be continued successfully with your support.

Thank you dear donors for being with us.

Dear Donors,

On 19th March 2016, our Kodappu coaching center celebrated the Annual Day. Games and plays were conducted. cultural programmes were performed by the children. The day was made more special by the participation of the alumini of the coaching class. It was great seeing our alumini.

Radha (name changed) studying in 7th standard, lost her mother a year back. Her parents had a misunderstanding and the father is not with the family. He works in another town and visits the sisters occassionally. Radha and her two sisters stay with their  maternal grandmother. Her grandmother is very old and could not go to work. The younger sister is studying in 11th standard. The eldest looks after the home and the family by working as a coolie. She earns $3 per day. With the small amount the sister earns, it is difficult for the children to run the family. Radha could not study well as she has no one to help her in her studies.

Radha says, "I was playing all the evenings and did not show much interest in studies earlier. Our coaching class teacher called me and advised to join the coaching class. My mother also forced me to join the class. In the beginning I felt distracted and was frequently cutting the coaching classes. But later on I gained interest and started coming to the class regularly. Now I am scoring 80% marks. I love Science."

During the quarter, we received $30 and this is used to pay the Salary(part) of a coaching class teacher.

We thank you dear donors for helping us coach these children. The children who would otherwise waste their intelligence, wandering in the streets and playing are now coached well and score good marks in their classes. This is possible only with your support. Kindly keep supporting the project and spread words about it to your friends and relatives who are like minded. They value your words.

Thank you once again.

Dear Donors,

Wishing you a Happy, Peaceful, Healthy and Wealthy New Year!

During this season, we remember with gratitude and love, all of you who have helped us walk through the year 2015. Without you, our projects could not have been successful.

Santhosh lives in Kodappu. He is studying in 11th standard now. His father is a auto rickshaw driver. His mother is a housewife. Santhosh has a brother and a sister. Their monthly income is $167 which is not sufficient to meet the needs of the five people in their family. Santhosh's father Arumugam tells about his progress after he joined our coaching class.

"My son joined the coaching class conducted by New Life in Kodappu when he was studying 7th standard. At that time Santhosh was an average student and was scoring around 55%. He likes to play cricket and kabadi. We at home used to scold him for playing and not scoring good marks. But after he joined the coaching class his performance in studies improved. He scored 85% in his 10th standard public examinations. Now he is in 11th standard. And he is working hard towards his goal of becoming an engineer. He is also participating in the school cricket and kabadi team and representing the school in competitions. Needless to say that we dont scold him now for playing", Arumugam ends with a big grin.

Coaching poor children like Santhosh is possible only with the donations you make. Yes, you help us to meet out the costs of rent, salary, etc. Kindly keep supporting this cause not only by contributing financially but also by spreading words about this project to your friends and relatives with similar mind. This will help many children like Santhosh.

Thank you once again.

With regards
