Unemployment and school dropout is the major cause of poverty in Uganda, as formal education robs the poor of the limited resources which get finished before a child has attained University Education and hence can not be absorbed into gainful employment. School dropouts, P.LE, O'Level graduates, Child mothers are enrolled into non formal skills training lasting 3 - 4 months, certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training upon completion they are integrated to employment in the locality.
School dropout and unemployment is the biggest challenge affecting the whole communities and leading to the vicious cycle of poverty as parents use the limited resources to educate the children who fail to gain education which renders them employed. They end up engaging in unelawful activities which is dangerous to both the community and themselves like gambling, prostitution leading to high crime rates, robbery, death, alcoholism due to lack of what to do as this affects the entire community
The project will enroll the unemployed youth into non formal skills training on courses of their choices, they will be examined by the Directorate of Industrial Training to certify that they can work, we will offer industrial or apprenticeship training and give out start up kits, then link them to employment. They will be in position to earn and continue with their studies after the project, as their is an alternative path to become graduates through the non formal skills program in Uganda.
We will educate 278 women and 100 boys in non formal skills disciplines, which will allow them to rise out of poverty through gainful employment and job creation with the start up kits provided under the project
