Karen - Kilimanjaro Climb for Cancer

by Faraja Cancer Support Trust

In August 2017, Karen will attempt to summit Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro (19,341 ft). Her goal is to raise $10K for the unique Faraja Cancer Support Fund. This amazing project will save thousands of lives, through providing medical assistance grants to children and adults diagnosed with cancer in Kenya, for generations to come. She is paying for the costs of the trip, so 100% of your gift will go direct to work. US tax payers will receive a tax credit. Please support her today!

This trip presents a double challenge - to climb a mountain and raise as much funds as possible for a unique project which will save many lives. Put simply, a cancer diagnosis is currently a death sentence for most in Kenya, and it doesn't have to be this way. Getting to the top of Kili will be easier for me than adults and children being able to access cancer medicine and treatments in Kenya today.

Get the right treatment at the right time. Cancer statistics in Kenya are scary. Just 1 in 10 children survive compared to 7/10 in developed countries and 14 oncologists and 3 cancer wards for a population of 42 million leading to over 1 year wait lists. Over 70% of the cancer is also diagnosed when it is already advanced and too late. Faraja knows how to get people the right treatment at the right time - saving many lives. Please take 5 minutes to read the attached brochure for full details.

Long-Term Impact

Giving hope to thousands of adults and children living with cancer. Within the next 2 years Faraja aims to raise 1 million US dollars for a special purpose medical fund which will provide life-saving grants, such as chemotherapy and radiation. Over the past 2 years a pilot project where they have given life-saving grants to 42 people and over 90% are well today. I know they can save many more lives with our help, and this will be our motivation to complete get to the top of this mountain!
