Natura Foundation continue its work on conservation and sustainable development, carry out several initiatives to promote alternatives to address climate change effects, including introduction of technological and agriculture alternatives for climate change adaptation.
This year our organization is supporting projects in Chiriquí Viejo and Santa María Watersheds, to develop conservation site plans in Bulaba Subwatershed (Chiriquí Viejo) and Gallito Microwatershed (Santa María), both initiatives are directed to design participatory processes to identify major presures for ecosystems and also altenatives to work with local communities and key stakeholders, in order to develop strategic actions to improve environmental conditions on those areas. On addition, two other projects had been financed and will start its implementation with the objetive to develop environmental education activities in these watersheds.
Regarding to reforestation projects, another new project begun its implementation in the Panama Canal Watershed, entitled "conservation and protection of riparian forests of Quebrada Honda subwatershed, localted in Ciri Grande". This project includes the reforetation of 40 hectares, and maintenance of another 40 hectares, among other activities.
Natura continue supporting technically and financially at least 17 on-going projects, localted in rural communities in sensitive areas. These projects are working for:
