The Project aims at providing well water and building modern toilets to the community in Kisauni Sub County. There is an urgent need for at least modern toilet to be constructed in Kisauni and also the necessity for toilets and hygiene awareness creation with preventive messages on causes of diseases to the community. To cub the water shortage problem in the area and rising cases of outbreaks of water related health diseases.
The lack of improved sanitation in Kenya has major health, economic and social impacts. Unsafe water and sanitation (5.3%) is the second leading risk factor and contributor to all mortality (deaths) and morbidity burden (DAILY) in Kenya. Diarrheal diseases remain the second leading cause of Under-five mortality . Kisauni sub county is adversley affected since there are no public toilets for the community, and there is inadequate water supply, due to the shortage of water in the country.
By drilling a well and constructing the public toilets ,the projects seeks to contribute to the sustainable development Goals number 3- good health and well being and 6- clean water and sanitation, we will also build the culture of hand washing after visiting the toilet, the project will also reduce the number of diarrhea issues in the community by sensitizing the community on the importance of washing hands using clean water and soap.
The project aim to reach 3500 people and 700 households in Kisauni sub-county and reduce the number of diarrhea cases thus improve the living standard by sensitizing the community on the importance of using clean water and toilets hence contributing to the sustainable development goals.
