This project aims at installing 4 manual boreholes to be the main source of free water for Damangaza community one of the poorest community in Abuja . It will be used to save 6000 people and children from using water from the dirty killer stream, rain water especially during the dry season. This would effectively reduce incidence of waterborne diseases, increase life expectancy and enable the people to have access to clean water allowing the children to go to school and develop like other children
The borehole in damangaza community requires electricity to function and due to the lack of electricity and the financial problems of the community 6000 women and children would rather drink from the community's dirty swamp than spend the money they do not have. We originally put up a project for solar powered boreholes but due to the inability to raise enough funds we have resulted to putting up manual boreholes as it is not only less expensive ,it also solves the community's problem.
This project aims at installing four manual boreholes to serve the members of the settlement which would be used for different purposes most especially for drinking and cooking. This would effectively reduce incidence of waterborne diseases and enable the people to have access to clean and free water, reduce the death rate of children, allowing the children to go to school and develop like other children. There would also be training on water safety methods and water-source maintenance.
The construction of four manual boreholes would provide water for a whole community of over 6,000 poor families, allowing them to have access to clean water for their daily use. The Project would reduce disability/ mortality rate within the community.
