This project will evacuate about 10 tons of litter from the Swiss Alps thanks to the organization by the NGO Summit Foundation of approximately 40 clean-up activities in the mountains. Litter is transported to rivers, lakes and ends up in the oceans. By cleaning the mountains, you are contributing to solve the problem of littering at its roots. Everything is connected.
Abandoned waste in the mountains is a real curse for nature: water and soil pollution have direct impacts for wildlife and negative visual impact for tourism. This problem is particularly visible when the snow melts. It is this observation which is at the origin of the creation of the foundation by Mr. Laurent Thurnheer in 2001. Reducing the consequences of human activity in mountain must be a priority in an alpine country like ours.
With our Clean-Up Tour 2020, approximately 2 000 people would contribute to the collection of more than 10 tons of waste left in the mountains.
The project will directly and positively impact fauna and flora, soils and have positive visual impacts for tourism. The project will bring awareness to the problem of littering in the Swiss Alps. The project will also have a positive impact on the quantity of waste in the rivers, lakes and oceans.
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
