The project is for improving hand washing practices which is the single cost effective health intervention to 3 primary schools students by mobilization of children to improve behaviors around hands hygiene and proper sanitation and to increase access to safe water and sanitation services to children when they stay at school. the project is running by teaching hygiene and sanitation to primary student.
Diarrhea and pneumonia kill 4 million of children under 5 years old each year. Children from the poorest 20% household are more than 10 times as likely to die as children from the richest 20%of households. Hands are the principal carriers of diseases-causing germs basing on scientific research and intensively monitored trials at both households and schools huye health centers in huye district/RWANDA. Schools partly determine a child's health and well-being by providing a healthy or unhealthy.
RWANDA VILLAGE CONCEPT PROJECT (RVCP) by its program of hygiene, water and sanitation will implement activities to secure appropriate safe drinking water to schools and hygiene and sanitation infrastructure that promote hygiene best practices at target schools with the combination of teaching sessions at primary schools to increase the awareness on hand washing and sanitation by stregnthening handwashing with soap reduce the millions of death of children especially at critical 3 moments.
This program will lead to behavioral changes on awareness to sanitation and hygiene among 800 children per school which make a total of 2400 children. The addition of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities at 3 primary schools. Installation of taps and storage tanks/connection to water lines will improve access to the decrease diarrhea diseases among children and hands washing for students will increase.the project will be maintained by that children learned hygiene at early age.
