Although search and rescue efforts are on-going, the death toll now stands at more than 200, with thousands more injured or displaced. It is estimated that 90% of the houses in Ya'an area were damaged due to the earthquake.
This fund will support disaster recovery and relief efforts in the aftermath of the earthquake. Funds will help survivors and victims get necessary immediate relief supplies like clean water, as well as provide long-term support, including rebuilding schools and other buildings. As funds are disbursed, we will post regular updates on how these funds are used.
Major disasters always require a huge amount of support to provide both immediate relief and recovery. Organizations that are deeply-rooted in local communities are often the in the best position to provide long-term support for disaster victims. Once recovery work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts by those types of organizations. Follow the "reports" tab for updates about how the fund is disbursed and put to work.
