This project will serve underprivileged children in Venezuela. We seek to deliver opportunities to improve the health of children, in a time when COVID-19, fuel shortages and lack of electricity have a devastating impact to the already failed healthcare system. CHAMOS aims to improve nutrition, basic health through the delivery of vitamins and medical supplies and prevent diseases through sanitation: WASH. CHAMOS will also distribute pediatric wheelchairs as mobility is even more important now.
In Venezuela the national healthcare system has failed. The country is going through a severe humanitarian crisis and conditions have worsen due to COVID-19, lack of electricity and fuel shortages. Medical facilities have limited resources, they are in a state of disrepair with frequent power outages and polluted water. The situation is aggravated because of the lack of sanitary measures. Children are amongst the most vulnerable, many die from easily preventable diseases and malnutrition.
We seek to maximize our resources to give the children the best platform to get through the current situation. We will donate paediatric wheelchairs to help families with disabled children be more mobile. We will provide soup-kitchens, nutritional recovery centers, and care homes with WASH equipment as this is indispensable to continue operations and ensure continuity of nutritional and food programmes. We plan to resume our rural medical programmes as soon as the pandemic situation stabilizes
Chamos' ultimate goal with this program is to improve the health and lifespan of the children which will benefit their developmental process. However, there's an urgent need which we should attend to avoid illnesses and losing more lives. Chamos plans to keep children as healthy as possible and empower communities by providing them with necessary tools to improve their children's general health. Our aspiration is to invest towards reducing poverty and contribute to the development of Venezuela.
