Programmes are structured to successfully help each client one-step at a time. MES Johannesburg covers all services to ensure each client will have an exit opportunity with a successful outcome of becoming a sustainable citizen. Our vision is to change the lives of the homeless and destitute young people and adults.
Hillbrow is an inner-city residential neighbourhood of Johannesburg (South Africa), known for its high levels of population density, unemployment, poverty, homeless people and crime. The main problem in this community is the NEET category, the not in education, not in employment and not in training individuals. The number of homeless people continues to be on the rise, people always begging, eating from rubbish bins and committing crime to at least have something to eat.
At MES we are becoming aware more and more aware of the need for homeless shelters to be safe and clean providing basic needs such as fresh water, warm blankets, clean toilet, food etc. MES provides a secure accommodation to the homeless and vulnerable in overnight shelters located in Hillbrow. Our training centre exists create a learning and work placement opportunities for unemployed people. Our aim is to provide appropriate skills transfer which aims to translate to sustainable employment.
MES long-term impact, through this project is to restore human dignity, lessen poverty and enable homeless participants to meet their basic daily needs. This programme will empower young people and adults holistically to live independent, sustainable and meaningful lives.
