Supporting girls through advocacy and action!

By Alison Nakamura Netter | Chief Communications & Development Officer

MH Day1
MH Day1

Over the past few months, we’ve been carrying out ongoing activities to equip girls with the support and resources they need to live healthy and informed lives.

On May 28th we proudly celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day, an international call to action to break the silence and build awareness about the fundamental role that menstrual hygiene management (MHM) plays in enabling women and girls to reach their full potential.

In Kenya, we were joined by hundreds of advocates across sectors to engage in action, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing around menstrual hygiene management, and globally, online, through social media.

We’ve also been conducting ongoing monitoring and evaluation site visits to our partner organizations and schools to identify successes and gaps and gather insights for how we can continually improve our programmatic efforts to serve the needs of girls.

Planning for our next CBO training which will take place on June 23 and 24th is in full effect. Our programs team has been busy sourcing facilitators, planning presentations and capacity building workshops, and coordinating behind the scenes logistics to make the two-day training for our community based partner organizations a great success.

At the end of the training we will provide our partners will a termly supply of sanitary pads for girls in their communities, ensuring that girls can access safe spaces, safe people, and the products and information needed to manage menstruation and stay in school.

We've also received some great press coverage on our work in NPR and Newsweek Magazine. Links are included below!

As always, we thank you for your support! Asante!
