Challenge

Schools in impoverished communities like Little Haiti, Miami FL are w/out Arts and Life Skills programs. The youth here are surrounded by crime, exposed to violence, drugs, and poverty-related trauma that has created a "cradle to prison" pipeline scenario. Art Studio World's CHAILA programs provide creative thinking tools to improve personal & professional development in youth. This project supports our "Hope In Action" campaign to empower and inspire the success of our youth.

Solution

ASWi CHAI LIFE ARTS program provides a safe space for youth in need, ages 8-18yrs in the Little Haiti community of Miami, FL to receive nutritional snacks, a gratitude journal, sketchbook, art supplies, mentor support, field trips, art portfolio development skills, wellness/stress-reduction exercises, life skills & etiquette coaching, personal & professional development, environmental awareness and educational support.

Long-Term Impact

ASWi CHAI LIFE ART program provides creative thinking tools for personal & professional development. Leveling the playing field for all youth in need, the ASWi CHAILA Team is taking action to halt the "cradle to prison" scenario that is currently playing out for many youth in Miami, FL. We are empowering students towards self-sufficiency and inspiring them to be a catalyst for positive change in their families and communities.
