09.09.2010: Eid is a holiday for the Muslims that mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Helping the less fortunate, exchanging gifts, ending past animosities and making up, organizing breakfasts and dinners for loved ones and putting together neighborhood celebrations are all part of the occasion. Homes and streets are decorated and lit up for the celebrations, and television and radio channels continuously broadcast a variety of Pakistani dramas and sitcoms.
Fatima Memorial Hospital in collaboration with Nur Foundation has sent out its first consignment of gift packs to the flood affected families of Pakistan. These Eid packages included food items, utensils, clothing, shoes, toys, and basic toiletries for a family of 6 that will help them celebrate the much awaited holiday.
Last night, our teams of volunteers were busy packing these gifts. These include food items, clothes, shoes, utensils, toiletries, water purification tablets, energy drinks toys etc were bought earlier from your donations (both monetary and in-kind).
With your support we hope to manage preparation of gift boxes for 1000 families before Eid. We’ll keep you posted through this newsletter with frequent updates. Thank you very much for your support in bringing us closer to achieve success in this noble endeavor.
