Casting 4 A Cure - 2013 Update
By Bill Fanrum | Executive Director
As we move into the summer season, Casting 4 A Cure is getting into high gear as we approach our three big events for 2013; our Steamboat Casting 4 A Cure event July18-20; our Victor, ID C4C event Aug 22-24; and our Bar Z Ranch event Sept 13-16. We are currently sold out for all three events and are looking forward to raising our goal of $100,000 to help fund clinical research and family support programs thru the work of the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. We are also anticipating to raise significant awareness around Casting 4 A Cure and The International Rett Syndrome Foundation as we will have exposure on the NBC Sports show, "Seasons on the Fly" again for 2013. This time the show will focus on our Victor ID event and will talk to family members of girls with Rett.
We have so far this year raised $35,000 and have just sent a disbursement to IRSF for $15,000 to help fund clinical trials at Houston Children's hospital.
We are really looking forward to a successful fundraising summer and thanks for your support of Casting 4 A Cure in 2013!
Regards,
Bill Farnum

2012 Year In Review
By Bill Farnum | Executive Director
With the turn of the calendar, we take a look back at 2012 and thank you all for your incredible support of Casting 4 A Cure. Our fifth year was by far our best year ever in terms of our ability to raise awareness and critical funding for Rett Syndrome research and family support projects. Some of our highlights for the year:
- We were able to donate over $90,000 to The International Rett Syndrome Foundation, which was critical in securing $1.5M in research funding for 2013. You can find out more information on the projects that were fundedHERE
- This year we were able to raise awareness about Casting 4 A Cure and Rett Syndrome through numerous written articles, including a great piece about our Victor, ID event which appeared in in the Fly Fish Journal. The article was written by FFJ editor in chief, Jeff Galbraith.
- Our Bar Z Ranch event outside of Bozeman MT, was also the subject of an episode of the popular fly fishing show, Seasons on the Fly, hosted by Greg Heister and airing on NBC Sports. Feel free to check out the episode HERE. We had an incredible response to the show and we were able to connect with numerous people interested in getting involved. Many thanks to the Hanson family, Bar Z Ranch staff and guides, andSeasons on the Fly for their commitment and support to Casting 4 A Cure.
- And a hearty and genuine THANK YOU to all our sponsors, participants and volunteers in 2012! Without you, we could not have done any of this. With you, we truly do get closer to a cure with every cast!

Casting 4 A Cue Project Update September 2012
By Bill Farnum | Executive Director
Hello everyone, hope you are had a great Summer and are getting ready for a nice Holiday season.
We are really looking forward to wrapping up what has been a great year in 2012 with respect to helping fund critical research projects for Rett Syndrome. Despite having to cancel our annual Steamboat CO event this year due to low water levels in the state, our Victor ID and Bar Z Ranch 2012 Casting 4 A Cure events were sold out and a tremendous success. We had a number of donors who were incredibly generous in both their financial donations as well as their time put against helping ther cause.
October is National Rett Syndrome Awareness Month and with that we are excited to deliver over a donation of $70,000 to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation. We will continue to concentrate our efforts on funding the 1st phase of the clinical trials for the drug NNZ-2566 (http://www.rettsyndrome.org/content/view/848/1147/) which are being held in conjunction with Children's Hospital in Housto. Neuren Pharmaceuticals has joined with the Baylor College of Medicine to test NNZ-2566 in a proposed Phase I and Phase IIa clinical trial. This proposed trial, along with the IGF-1 trial at the Children's Hospital in Boston, are trials designed to investigate whether these compounds can reverse some of the symptoms of Rett syndrome and modify the progression of the disorder in our Rett children. This announcement portrays the importance of partnerships between industry, academia, and private foundations like IRSF to accelerate bringing forward clinical trials specific to Rett syndrome.
Thank you again for your support and we are really excited about all the things in store for Rett Syndrome research and Casting 4 A Cure in 2012.
Bill Farnum
