Challenge

Absolute impoverished situation usually creates a bar to all the parents who are usually forest-fringe people or fishermen or working mothers/migrant labourers, to send their loving child to school to get basic education. Again, only 1 out of every 100 girls in rural India is educated to grade 12. Girls drop out of school and are forced into early marriage. This leaves them unprepared for life and parenthood and exposes them to exploitation, violence and high risk of death during childbirth.

Solution

We rejuvenate existing government/Non-Govt. schools rather than build costly new ones and convince parents and community to send girls and boys to the existing BTS-PathBhavan School where there are 200 such neglected children to whom BTS(Baikunthapur Tarun Sangha) is providing quality basic school education by existing experienced local trained teachers/tutors and reducing the drop-out rate or tendency to make child-labour or chance of early marriage through timely mainstreamming to govt school

Long-Term Impact

Checking drop-outs among rural poor children alongwith fighting early child marriage and educating especially the girl children fights malnutrition, reduces health=hazards like HIV and violence against women. Research by the UN and the World Bank shows that when especially the girl children go to school, birth rates, child mortality, political extremism and violence against women decrease, while family health improves and national income increase.
