Bella Vista's first challenge as a community was bringing water to the land. Leadership and the families began working hard digging the reservoir, clearing brush and laying the water pipes. Currently they are in the process of building the first water tank, capable of storing 26,000 gallons! Everyone is extremely dedicated to this project, seen in the quick results and quality work that have resulted. Before, water was a limitation in Bella Vista, but today, it is one of the community’s strengths.
Families are eagerly anticipating the completion of their new irrigation system. The 26,000 gallon tank being currently under construction will be capable of irrigating over nineteen acres of land and is almost 80% complete. The system, though not fully completed, already offers a reliable source of water and efficient irrigation during times of drought.
The initial goal was to have the structure/system set up by March, but this was pending full funding, so the village is pleased to see this much completion given that delta -- they are confident that with broad reaching support, they will see this come to fruition soon!
The families’ motivation? “We will pay for the land with the help of God and Agros. We will accomplish our goals and see our crops growing in the fields so that our children can inherit a dignified life.”
