Summary

Village Health Teams (VHTs) in Uganda are equivalent of health centre I responsible for the health of community members at household levels. A VHT is a responsible for 25 - 30 households and finds it a challenge to walk the numerous distances to fulfill their duties which affects community healthcare service delivery. A bicycle facilitates and enables a VHT to move faster and visit a number of homes in a day hence improvement in healthcare services delivery.

Challenge

Village Health Teams find it a challenge to walk from household to household in fulfillment of their duties due to distances and especially during the rainy season as well as the hot season. This hinders their performance and effectiveness hence resulting into poor service delivery.

Solution

Provide bicycles to Village Health Teams to facilitate their movements in fulfillment of their duties and responsibilities.

Long-Term Impact

Improvement in performance of VHTs hence improved health service delivery
