We're approaching the holiday season fast and, while we have made great progress so far, now is the time to really push for change!
Our students are working hard to commit to the afterschool community service hours in our Philadelphia chapters, and we would love to help them continue. Don't have a gift for someone yet? Make a donation to our After-School Youth Empowerment Program in Philadelphia in someone's honor!
The Philadelphia chapter has started a new initiative: the Breaking grounds project. buildOn Breaking Grounds Coffee is a new initiative to raise money to bring education to those in the developing world who currently have no school. The coffee is Fairly Traded, meaning that the farmers that grow it are receiving a higher price than usual for their crop. $2.10 cents of every bag sold goes directly to the farmers and $6.55 goes to building schools! By purchasing Breaking Grounds Coffee, buyers are not only will receive delicious coffee but they are also supporting farmers in Nicaragua while brining educational opportunities to children, parents and grandparents in the developing world!!
This cause is truly an honorable one - helping students stay in school and give back and better their own communities - and there are many ways to contribute.
