As the country that created the very conditions they're fleeing from, the US has a moral imperative to provide for mothers now foundering at our borders. COHI has been caring for mothers and children in this complex humanitarian crisis, as well as others around the globe, for 14 years. For the last four years along the Texas border, we've grown all too familiar with the silence, struggle, and fear that these migrant mothers carry with them.
Our work in Texas for the last four years has focused on staffing a clinic that serves newly arrived, asylum-seeking migrant women, men, and children immediately upon their release from US Border Patrol. This clinic is 100% volunteer run, and has seen up to 400 patients a day. COHI's current funding needs for this clinic range from hiring Spanish-speaking, culturally competent clinical volunteers to purchasing vitamins, medicines, and personal hygiene supplies to paying for hospital stays.
The refugee mothers who've walked hundreds of miles with the hope of giving their kids a safer life-they very much deserve to be safe, just like you do. Make a donation today to support COHI's work and honor these mothers striving for a better life. Show them they're not forgotten.
