Mission of Love Support Community Based Organization (MILSCO) is a registered CBO working in Kenya with the aim of addressing challenges faced by Orphan and Vulnerable Children, address many the numerous cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and related problems in Obunga slum through provision of safe space for SGBV survivors, provision of basic education and economic empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women to speak out and be leaders. The safe space will accommodate these girls.
MILSCO is currently serving Obunga, Manyatta & Nyalenda Slum. These communities report the highest teen pregnancy (16.2%) and HIV prevalence (8.8%)and sexual and gender violence against women and girls (21.5%). In all these, the girl-child and children are the most affected, and educating and providing a safe space for them is one approach that can address these challenges.
The Center will also provide safe space with counseling, medical and legal support for survivors of sexual & gender-based violence, including rape, child labor & child marriage before they are returned back to the community.
The Safe safe will offer professional counseling, medical and legal support to the survivors of SGBV before they are integrated back into the society. We will also train the girls on self-defense mechanisms and leadership skills while at the center so they can speak out about what they are going through and take action whenever their rights are infringed upon.
