Building Grass-Root CleanTech Innovation

by Special Service for Groups/CYPHER

Summary

In the 21st century, we all need more sustainable ways to grow the food we eat, generate the power we rely on, and protect the water we cannot do without. The report, #SMARTer 2030: ICT Solutions for 21st Century Challenges, shows that by 2030, green technology can cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, make over $11 trillion, and connect an additional 2.5 billion people to the knowledge economy. Join us link the grass-roots to the resources they need to produce green technology.

Challenge

Grassroot communities at risk for food, energy, and water insecurity due to environmental degradation and climate change are the least consulted in designing a more sustainable future.

Solution

Enable grass-root climate innovation at the nexus of food, energy, and water systems (INFEWS) in order to promote disruptive technology-enabled sustainable development. In the 21st century, we all need more sustainable ways to grow the food we eat, generate the power we rely on, and protect the water we cannot do without. The insight of grass-root communities with direct experience in extreme weather and/or environmental degradation could be harnessed to develop green technology.

Long-Term Impact

The report, #SMARTer 2030: ICT Solutions for 21st Century Challenges, shows that by 2030, green technology can cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, make over $11 trillion, and connect an additional 2.5 billion people to the knowledge economy. The future of work is driven by this technology boom, and the grass-roots need our support to become producers of ICT, not just consumers of it. We believe that green tech happens when we link it with livelihood at the grass-root.
