This project will help build the capacity of 500 Sierra Leonean Youths to be self supportive individuals and same time enhances them to positively contribute to the economic development of Sierra Leone. The target beneficiaries(500 vulnerable and less privileged Sierra Leonean Youths) will now healthily compete for respectable jobs that will earn them respect among their pairs, communities of resident and the country at large. Their employement will also reduce the burden of care on families.
The decade long Civil War in Sierra Leone left behind many disadvantaged and marginalized youths in need of technical skills. Empowering this category of youths is intrinsically important, as making them self-reliant will not only reduces the burden of unemployment in the country but will positively impact on the social well-being of these disadvantage lots. The category of some marginalized youths is illiterate and unemployment and mostly does manual and menial tasks to earn their livelihood.
The project will solve the above mentioned problem through the following measures and activities planned to achieve the project objective: Labour market information system (LMIS),Identify and develop appropriate guidelines and selection criteria for the recruitment of beneficiaries,Orientation of beneficiaries, curriculum development, delivery of training in technical/vocational skills, labour market linkages and entreprise participation, linkages /internship and follow- up of graduates etc etc
This project will build the capacity of 500 Sierra Leonean Youths (300 males and 200 females) in desired vocational skills that will earn them employment .with the employment they will be self supportive individuals that will contribute to personal, family, community and national economic development. This project will also motivate people to have the desire for skills that will earn them a decent living.Families of young people in a circle of long term poverty will have a reduced burden of care
