This project will build a community learning centre in southern Uganda, to support poor communities to access information and communication technologies through the internet and mobile. The centre will focus on three core areas i.e ICTs, tailoring plaiting hair Sprout Care Foundation plans to build three classroom block to provide free computer lessons for children who hail from the poorest section of the society, also train girls/school drop outs in tailoring and plaiting hair skills.
Many societies across the world use information and communication technologies to share important information and knowledge however access and availability is a major problem in rural Uganda. Almost 95% students complete grade seven with completely no access to a computer. The effects of covid 19 has hiked the school drop especially the girl child, these are at risk of abuse economic dependency. This project benefit more than 500 children, 20 teachers and youth
The community learning centre follows the model of traditional African village in providing a central location where communities can come together to learn, access information and communicate with each other enabled by ICTs. Sprout Care Foundation trains girls in tailoring, plaiting and braiding hair skills to enable them start their own business.
children and adults will save money and time by having access to information and technology within walking distance of their homes. More so, the project will educate 200 girls equipping them with skills of start your own business allowing them to rise out poverty, which will provide for both their well being and families
