Summary

Ki Culture promotes sustainable practices within the cultural sector on a global scale. The Ki Futures program, which provides an international network of coaching and interactive training, empowers cultural institutions and professionals to take action for sustainability. Unfortunately, sustainability is currently not affordable for all. Our aim is to enable 13 conservators from Nigeria to attend Ki Futures: computers, internet access and transportation is all they need.

Challenge

The outcomes of COP26 have shown that governments are not going to achieve climate change reductions alone. We all have a part to play. The cultural sector is currently unsustainable and while many cultural practitioners want to change, they lack necessary resources and training. Nigerian conservators who want to be sustainable don't have computers and internet data to attend the Ki Futures program and benefit from the resources, expertise, and tools available to support their goals.

Solution

Ki Culture makes sustainability easy, accessible and equitable by offering solutions, strategies and trainings within the cultural sector on an international level - allowing the sector to tackle the issue together. All donations to this fund will allow Nigerian conservators from the National Museum of Lagos to join the Ki Futures program by providing them with computers, internet access and transportation. This opportunity will help them develop and spread sustainable practices.

Long-Term Impact

Culture has a unique role to play in the transition to a sustainable future by connecting people globally and with key issues locally. By creating an international, unified approach to sustainability in the sector, Ki Futures will streamline the advancement of sustainable practices and provide a more equitable, accessible, and tangible approach to make sustainability in the cultural sector a driving force globally.
