The new facility for the Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County experienced a slow down in construction due to reevaluating the existing building elevations and sizeing. But with the Board of Directors involvement and continued support the construction process is full steam ahead and to be completed and ready for Summer Camp 2014.
This has been a project that has overcome many stumbling blocks but the necessity to provide for the youth of the community, especially those that need us the most has made everyone involved with the project become more determined to see the complete of a new facility as quickly as possible. The current facility is not air-conditioned, it lacks sufficient space to provide all the valuable programs that are available for our members, the roof leaks in places to numerous to count and the maintenance costs are becoming prohibitive as well as extensive.
The need for the new facility continues to grow as we are experiencing an increase in membership. Over the past 12 months, the Boys & Girls Club of St. Charles County has proveded 23,000 free nutritious meals and snacks to its members. Over 74% of the children we serve are considered to be at-risk. With those numbers becoming a reality, we realize our mission is more important than ever.
Pictures of the construction progress will be posted with the next update.
