Bowl of love

by Lakou Association

Bowl of Love program will enable us to feed over 1000 disadvantage school children age 3 to 15 years old for a full year in Port-au-Prince Haiti. As unreal as it may be to imagine, everyday thousands of children in Haiti go to school on an empty stomach, carrying in their lunch bag one significant item. A "mud cake" made of clay, margarine and salt. These "mud cakes" sometimes is the only meal theyy have for the day. Help us provide vitamin-fortified and nutrient-rich foods to these children.

total goal

Haiti has been affected for years by natural disasters and instability the majority of the population earns less than $2 a day living in extreme poverty and daily facing starvation. As unreal as it may be to imagine, everyday thousands of children go to school hungry having only a "mud cake" for lunch which is made of clay, margarine and salt. These carry all kinds of parasite heavy metal poisoning, and bacterial infections which in turns gives these children stomach ache at night.

Bowl of love initiative enable us to daily feed over 1000 disadvantaged children who face hunger and malnutrition . This program's goal is to provide a nutritious meal every day to at least 1000 children for the entire school year. It is a nutritional recovery programs for children between the ages of 3 to 15 years of age providing vitamin-fortified and nutrient-rich foods. Giving convenient, consistent access to healthy foods helps ensure that children thrive not worry about next meal.

Long-Term Impact

Thousands of school aged disadvantaged children will be fed and will no longer have to eat "mud cakes" for lunch. Their health will improve as well as their education. This directly affects the children and their family as their parents will no longer have to worry about their children being hungry at school and having to pay medical fees related to the illness caused by the "mud cakes". The academic scores of these children will also improve as a result of less food deprivation.
