Case story notifying impact:

Ever since the Kaverinagar Anganawadi centre in Bengaluru, India was inaugurated 10 years ago, it hasn’t received a new coat of paint. Under the Born Learning Campaign and with the support of donors and Global Giving, the walls were repainted and murals with educative themes were painted. Minor repair work on windows and the main door were also completed.

Laila, the teacher at the anganwadi was extremely happy with the new look and ambience, “I am extremely happy with the new look of the anganwadi. The children are happy too and look forward to coming to the Anganwadi now.  The community members and mothers too have expressed their appreciation. We wish to thank United Way Bengaluru for their generosity”.

United Way Bengaluru with the generous support from our all donors and Global Giving undertook painting activity at a Born Learning Center at Kaverinagar in Bengaluru, India between from October to December 2016 benefitting a total of 261 beneficiaries out of which 134 are girls and 127 are boys.

Objectives of Born Learning Campaign:

Enhance early learning abilities, including fine and gross motor skills, among children.

Engage mothers to spread awareness on health and hygiene among children

To provide conducive environment for the children for early learning

 Highlights:

One anganwadi center was cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint

Beautiful murals were painted in the inners and outer walls of anganwadi centers

Mothers’ committee began to gain momentum in the recently added new anganwadi centers

 Action Plan for next Quarter:

 Community Participation

Supply of Early learning play material

Greening of Anganawadi

Health camp

Basic refurbishment

Putting up of informative Signage boards.

 Challenges:

High cost of procuring early learning materials

High cost of providing nutritious meals to children on a sustainable basis

Need more funds to hire more resource people

We thank our donors and Global Giving for their generous support to the Born Learning Campaign. United Way Bengaluru is focused to develop and upgrade all the 42 centers to bring it at par with mainstream educational centers in terms of facilities and amenities. We also aim to provide a holistic development of the all the children and ensure that they are school ready when they step into the first grade. We request you to kindly continue your support and disburse additional funds to accomplish all the above mentioned tasks and much more.

Thanking you,

UNITED WAY BENGALURU
