This project will provide clean borehole water for rural community of Akinyele. This will minimize the hardship the women face in going long distance before they could get water. It will also reduce water borne diseases such as dysentery, cholera and guinea worm that have been killing some of them.
Akinyele rural community has been neglected by government. These 500 rural community members depend on brooks to get water. The water they get is always infested with different types of bacteria. Worse still, the brooks become dry up during the dry seasons. This leads them to travel long distance to get poor indecent water. As a result of this poor water, some of their children are dying while the adults are getting guinea worm. Unfortunately, there is no hospital nearby to treat their diseases
The project will provide the rural community with clean borehole water. This will solve the hazards faced by women while travelling long distance to get water. It will also prevent water borne diseases they have been experiencing over time as a result of infested water from brooks. This will definitely reduce the number of deaths occurring as a result of poor water drinking.
The long term effect of this provision of clean water is that not less than 500 community members will be in good health. Their livelihood and economic status will also improve as they will now have clean water for domestic use especially in producing hygienic local dishes like eko and eba which they are famous for. They will be able to sell more of their local food. As a result there may be more money for the poor women while some will be able to pay the school fees of their children.
