The project aims to gather funds to build a house for a poor, homeless family in Zivinice. This family besides from not having a proper home where to live has many other difficulties: the father is a refugee and during war he got injured and therefore is not able to work, the mother is losing her sight and looking after their son, who is a child with special needs. With help of neighbors they built a temporary home but during winter it's impossible to live there
In Bosnia and Herzegovina third of the population is unemployed and more than 15 % are people suffering from post war traumas not to mention that the number of homeless is unknown. Unfortunately, the government does not have an ear to their problems and needs. Therefore, IFS-EMMAUS together with the local community is trying to fulfill one of the basic human rights for the family in Zivinice- to build a house that they can call a home and that will keep them warm during cold winter nights.
The Family is currently living in a house poorly constructed. That house is old and ruined but it keeps them away from the streets. Unfortunately, none has a job due to their health and they are unable to construct the house by their means because they don't have money to buy food not to mention build a house. Once we construct the house they will have warm and safe home but also a place where to keep cattle and provide food on the table.
We will raise out of poverty and misery family from Zivinice by providing them a warm and safe place of living that they can call home. Additionally they will be able to have a barn where to keep cattle which will be the source of their income. Also, the son as the mother says will finally have a room of his own and a bathroom, like all the other children. This project will raise out of poverty this poor family and give them a proper home.
