2015 we were notified of Bella, an owner surrender to be euthanized due to an an ACL tear. We rescued her and during her ACL surgery cancer was found. During a following procedure Bella lost her battle. There was something about her way, her sweet face. How her foster sib would lay diligently beside her. The amazing care her foster Father gave her. So moving. We see many Boxers come in with cancer. Quick treatment allows them to live out a happy life in a forever home.
Unfortunately cancer is the #1 health issue for Boxers and the leading cause of death (44%). Funds raised from this campaign will help future NWBR dogs with cancer. Our efforts, bringing Bella into our care, were to keep a healthy dog from being put down. ACL tears, very common in boxers, are normally an easy fix but Bella had a double dose of trouble as we also found cancer.
Many more dogs would roam the streets, sick, injured or dying slowly if it were not for rescues stepping in to care for them. NWBR members have dedicated themselves to being hands on care night and day until our dogs find their forever home. Financial support is a MUST to continue the fight for ending homelessness, unwanted dogs and, in this case, assisting the ill. Our action, hands on love and care coupled with your donation equals a healthy, happy dog in a loving home.
Continued financial support allows us to help the Boxer in need after Bella. NWBR, established in 2011, rescues approximately 400 dogs a year. From kill shelters, police custody from abuse, abandon etc, once in our care we provide them with safety, love and necessary vet care which in turn allows them to flourish and be ready for their forever home. We couldn't do this without YOU and your generous giving. Your giving helps us recover from Bella's medical needs and future Boxers in need.
