What seemed to be a dream is now showing signs of becoming a reality. Proceeds from the Beneficiary training workshop held on 27.August. 2015 built a strong hope of a better future. It was an active day not only meant to train beneficiaries but to learn from one another. The stakeholders, the partners and the beneficiaries contributed to what we called a strong foundation for which the bee keeping project will transform lives of the Batwa and contribute to nature conservation. Providing bee keeping skills and knowledge to over 50 people was very important of it all, One benefiting member Mr. Kabwana said “we must be cooperative, work hard and support one another if we as Batwa need to transform the way we live’’. He also called for patience as we wait for more beehives and other equipments as already told by Director of the Community Initiatives for Biodiversity Conservation (CIBC). The community contributed much to make the training workshop a success as funds alone were not enough, giving us freely utensils like chairs to use and free labour to cook the food for the workshop.
At CIBC, we will continue our tradition of offering outreach and extension services to these beneficiaries currying out onsite trainings and monitoring their progress. Our Men are working hard to finish the 10 Bee hives and have them distributed and installed in owners’ apiary. Our Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Partner is also very actively working with us to provide conservation messages to the beneficiaries.
We will continue to look for more money to do much more training workshops, make more bee hives and purchase honey production and processing equipment and establish honey selling shop in the trading centre. We have achieved the past success together and I kindly request you to join hands with us again to push this project to the next level. Our Plan is to train and support 50 people this year with skills, knowledge and bee hives in this year of 2015.
Thank you for your past support, we look forward to working together raising more money to achieve our quarter plan of 2015
