Dear Friends of BCPT,
We’d like to update you on your grant support towards providing a safe and happy space for senior citizens through day care centres run by BCPT in partnership with Community Aid & Sponsorship Programme (CASP).
The day care centre in Marol, north Mumbai sees active participation of 40 senior citizens residing in the area. The centre acts as a safe and secure space for the senior citizens to spend their time. They feel happy coming to the centre as they are able to spend time with others and share their experiences with others in similar situations.
The centre runs from 1.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and the daily activities include prayers, newspaper reading, discussion on current topic and a yoga session. Snacks and nutrition is also provided at the centre. Regular general medical check-ups are conducted and a blood pressure and diabetes drive was also conducted.
The program has seen an overall improvement in the health of the senior citizens – reduction in stress and anxiety levels. The feeling of loneliness and negligence is reduced due to regular and constant interaction within themselves.
