Since the last update, discussions and drawings for the erection of the classroom block at Tauhidia Basic school in Walewale in the West Mamprusi Distriuct have since been completed. The drawings and bill of quantities were done by the draftsman of the West Mamprusi District Assembly, which were submitted to the head-teacher in May 2012. He in turn submitted them to BasicNeeds-Ghana. With that, activities proper on the project have now begun. This has started with the molding of the blocks needed for structure. An amount of GHS¢7,000 (about USD$4260.50) was released to the school authorities to procure the needed materials and services (labor) for the project. With the funds, ten trips of a five-ton tipper truck and 150 bags (of 50-kg weight) of cement have been purchased for the molding of the blocks. A total of GHS¢6,000 of the funds released have been spent on the materials. The rest is to be used to pay for water and labor services. We are looking forward to seeing the structure raised.
As part of securing more funds for the project an application has been submitted to ACT Foundation, a UK Charity
Trust, where we are asking for GBP£5,000 (about USD$7,830). We are hoping to this will provide some further funding to augment completion of the structure.
Do look forward to the next update on developments of this project.
