Due to a limited supply of essential services, adults and especially children suffer from hunger, malnutrition and ill health. We are working to raise funds for basic diagnostic equipment to benefit Dembi Dollo General Hospital in the Oromia region of Ethiopia - specifically, an x-ray and ultrasound machine. This hospital serves a population of nearly 1 million in an area that has been affected by major crises including drought, displacement and armed conflict.
Despite the recent positive changes in Ethiopia, poverty continues. The population in rural areas has been denied access to proper medical care and therefore suffer from many preventable and treatable illnesses. Approximately 6% of children die before their 5th birthday. Funds are not locally available for the necessary medical equipment to provide even the most basic care. Multitudes are left to fend for themselves in desperation.
In 2018, after 27 years of oppression, a new prime minister from the Oromia region came into power. He is a man of the people and for the people. The time to act is ideal as the hospital is in dire need and channels are open to welcome any help. Basic medical services are the foundation for a healthy life. Good health gives this population a fighting chance to help themselves in all other aspects of their existence. Won't you please help those who can't help themselves?
Your support will save lives. It will improve health allowing children to stay in school so they can achieve their full potential. Parents can then work to earn a livelihood instead of caring for ailing family members. Your support will impact the whole community.
