We have the laptops in-hand for a Computer Lab at a rural South African K - 7 school, and now we are seeking funding for a high-quality bank safe to store them. Why do we need this? Without a bank safe, the computers run the risk of being stolen, and when we invest, we do all we can to protect our donors' financial sacrifices and to help the school do the same. We have installed bank safes at our three other school computer labs, and they have protected the laptops for years without incident.
We have 30 donated laptops in-hand, but we will not deliver them to the school until we have a high-quality bank safe in place to protect them. We take security seriously in rural South Africa. In fact, when we partner with a school, security measures are always each school's and our #1 wish list item.
A high-quality bank safe will allow us to store the laptops when they are not in use and prevent thieves from taking them. We have employed these same measures in the three other labs we installed, alongside other security measures, such as alarms, cameras, beams, security gates, etc. The bank safes are central to these measures, which, when combined, have led to zero break-ins and zero laptops stolen by criminals.
Extended access to fully functioning laptops leads to greater tech mastery for children. That, in turn, prepares them as they climb up the school ladder, from K - Grade 12. It also dramatically enhances their chances of being admitted to university and college, succeeding once there, and pursuing careers that are tech-based.
