This project would encourage 500 children in Damangaza Angwausawa settlement an urban slum located in Northern Nigeria, to go back to school by providing them with School bags, School shoes and Writing Materials such as; pencils, erasers, books, pencil cases, When they receive these materials from Vaccine Network their parents be would motivated to send the children to L.E.A. Primary School Damangaza which is the closest Government primary school around them
Damangaza Angwausawa has a very high population of poor people who do not want to send their children to school, out of about 2,500 school age children only about 200 children go to school. The parents complained that they do not have the finances to buy writing materials , school bags and school shoes for their children since the tuition fee in the government school is free. They also prefer their children to hawk petite food items or go to farms so as to generate income for their households.
Research and analysis have shown that when children are given school bags, school shoes they are encouraged and the parents have stated that they would send their children to school if they are given these materials. The project would carry out an advocacy to educate the parents on the importance of allowing their children to go to school, then give them incentives such as writing materials, school bags and shoes.
To increase the number of educated children in the community, To advocate for the importance of education and change the mind set of the parents who do not believe in education, Education leads to empowerment, It will also lead to exposure and take the children from the streets Further replicate the success of this project in other poor disadvantaged settlement within FCT-Abuja
