Statistics show that 1 out of 5 Nigerian children is out of school, an alarming estimate of 10.5 million kids in Nigeria are out of school and this is partly attributed to the high cost of school for poor families who cannot afford it. This project is aimed at easing the sufferings of fifty children of the poor in Okwe a disadvantaged community in Delta State Nigeria by supporting 50 pupils from less privileged families with school bags, school uniforms, text books and stationary.
Okwe community is one of the many less privileged communities in the Niger Delta region in Nigeria. With poor infrastructure and low income earners, this community is in serious need of child welfare among other things. Situated in Asaba, Delta State, most of the children of Okwe face many challenges. One of such is having access to school uniforms, school shoes, stationary, school bags and proper learning environment. These children need help.
By providing the children of Okwe community with proper school kits, hope is ignited in them and this will result in a positive attitude toward school and learning. The future of Okwe lies in the hands of these children and this initiative can serve as a driving force in reorienting these kids on how bright their future is and that can in turn propel a positive attitude toward life.
1. POSITIVE BEHAVIORS - According to studies, children who are helped have better grades at school and self-image. 2. ALTRUISM - We believe that when one person performs a good deed, it causes a chain reaction of other altruistic acts. This effect can ripple throughout the community, inspiring dozens of individuals to make a difference. 3. OKWE COMMUNITY stands to benefit greatly as this campaign is targeted toward their community. Various families will be positively impacted.
