Summary

The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital helps treat and care for thousands of wildlife patients every year. Our motto is save one, save the species. This project will fund essential supplies, new equipment for the facility and the care of our precious wildlife patients so we can get them back out where they belong...in the wild. Visitors to the Sunshine Coast can come and see the amazing work we do and learn from Wildlife Warriors what they can do to help our native wildlife and the environment.

Challenge

The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is currently Australia's largest and busiest wildlife hospital, providing free veterinary care for thousands of injured, ill or orphaned animals each year, 24 hours a day/seven days a week. The hospital treats every kind of native animal, but by far our most specialized and iconic patients are koalas. Almost 700 koalas come through our doors each year. Our experienced team is dedicated to the treatment of wildlife and to returning them to the wild.

Solution

With the growing influx of injured animals admitted to the hospital daily, the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital incurs huge costs, including veterinary care, medicines, hospital equipment, feeding and rehabilitation to help save these precious animals. All patients are treated on a no-fee basis, so donations from individuals around the globe are critical to the on-going operations of the wildlife hospital and the conservation of threatened and endangered species.

Long-Term Impact

This will enable us to purchase vital supplies and equipment and to provide the best possible veterinary care to the patients we treat. The ultimate goal for each of these patients is release back to the wild. The long-term impact is the conservation of threatened and endangered species and the fulfillment of our vision: that people, wildlife and habitat survive and prosper without being detrimental to the existence of each other.
