Celebrate #diversityandinclusion! Let's inspire female leaders! WEF's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report found that the presence/participation of women in leadership roles is a crucial factor in closing the opportunity gap. Atlas Corps empowers women globally by engaging social change leaders in 12-18 month Fellowships. Join Atlas Corps as we focus on empowering women to tackle the most critical social issues at home, in USA, and world!
On a global scale, women face structural barriers that seek to hinder them from self-actualization as agents of social change. Yet many international development efforts center on how the "developed world" possesses the resources, staff, and answers to uplift bereft women from the "developing world." This narrative distances us and ironically perpetuates the very social inequality it aims to eradicate. Instead, Atlas Corps builds bridges and recognizes global women as what they are: empowered.
Atlas Corps pioneers a multilateral exchange model that connects remarkable women (the majority of whom hold an advanced degree and have over 7 years work experience) with social change organizations in the U.S. for 12-18 month professional Fellowships. Emerging women are further empowered through professional development training and networking within our global community of innovators. 60% of our Fellows are global women. 50% of our Host organizations focus on women and children's empowerment.
Through this Fellowship, we build bridges between individuals and organizations that cross sectors and borders; that defy the prevailing narrative of global giving and instead promotes and practices equal exchange among peers. Each year, on average, we engage over 100 international leaders from 25 different countries who serve at 75 different organizations in the U.S. to create social impact. Atlas Corps Alumni go on to hold leadership positions in nonprofits, government, and social enterprise.
