Dear Friends,
Take a moment to imagine a crackling fire, a star-filled sky and the waves of Lake Superior hitting the shore, as families are coming together to restore, renew, refresh and grow together as a community.
This is the experience you make possible for families like the Jackson’s at family camp .
The Jackson’s have been through a lot in their lives and they had not had many opportunities for quality family time and craved an opportunity to be together away from the distraction and stresses of everyday life.
One mother, Holly told a story about her daughter Destiny’s experience of this beautiful place:
“The very last thing my daughter said to me on the very first night here was ‘Mommy, it’s so beautiful.’ The first thing out of her mouth the next morning was the same thing. And I thought, you can’t pay for that kind of joy and emotion coming from a child.”
Dylan, Holly’s son, also expressed how this placed opened him up and made him more personable, which paid off with a sense of self confidence and friendship.
Many marginalized families do not have a safe place to connect with members of their family or feel welcomed to share about their struggles and challenges they face as a family with others. They also do not feel they can relax and be themselves around others when they feel they will be criticized.
The experience your support provides is not only for the inner family experience or for personal growth, you also provide a space for families to learn and grow from each other. You provide a safe, welcoming environment where families can be real, be challenged and be changed.
“I was really touched by the love that families displayed to each other when things didn’t go perfectly. It made me think that we all have a responsibility to humanity, no matter where we come from. We are all on level playing field here.” - Holly
For the three days that the Jackson family was an Amnicon, they were able to view the world around them in a new way and experience people from all walks of life coming together to love each other and grow together. They felt safe and welcomed to be themselves with their family and the families around them.
Families need your help to experience transformation like the Jackson family has.
Not only is the cost for the camper to come to camp important, cost for upkeep around Amnicon is also necessary to create that restorative space
Amnicon is a sacred place that needs your support to continue touching the lives of the people that interact with it. You provide the safe and welcoming space for families to see the beauty of God’s creation around them and in the lives of others.
Will you consider sharing a special gift to help the Jackson family and other families, campers and retreat guests experience the restorative power of community at Amnicon?
Your generous gift of whatever size - $25, $50, $100, or $1000 or more – will help each and every camper and guest interact with God’s creation and the people around them.
With your gift, you will find a priceless sense of satisfaction knowing you are making it possible for families and guests to experience God’s creation and love all around them. Thank you.
Sincerely in Christ,
Alana Butler
