Caritas Timika Papua Foundation will provide assistance and support to 200 PLHAs ( people living with HIV AIDS ) for Anti Retro Viral Treatment. This project will help to prevent new infections, reduce mortality rate and improve the quality of live of PLHAs
Number of HIV-AIDS in Mimika Regency keeps on increasing. To maintain and improve the quality of life of PLHA it needs to be monitored through the ARV treatment. Until the end 2014 out of 1270 people who are ever receive the ARV treatment only 44.64% that are last. This shows the coverage of PLWHA that are receiving ARV treatment still low and escaping number of follow up still high.
Providing maintenance, support and treatment for people with HIV/AIDS. The program includes: counseling, treatment prophylaxis for people with HIV/AIDS, ARV therapy, PPTCT, nutritional support for people with HIV/AIDS, PMO training for the general public and CST Training for health workers and midwifes. This program need to be improved through the development of village-based peer support groups through partnership with the Religious leader / traditional leaders and the Government.
