ASH will push for stronger public health measures worldwide by participating in and influencing global negotiations of the World Health Organizations Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) a platform to advance tobacco control measures worldwide. Your support will ensure that ASH will be in attendance and reach 181 parties to push for best practices in our field, influence decisions on the standards governments should meet going forward and ensure accountability measures are in place.
The tobacco industry attends every treaty negotiation and attempts to dilute the best practices the global community is establishing, prolonging the tobacco epidemic which kills one person every 6 seconds.
The tobacco epidemic won't be solved overnight, but with strong global best practices, governments have the recipe to end the epidemic and protect the health of their citizens from the aggressive tobacco industry.
Without action, one billion people will die from tobacco this century. Those deaths are all completely preventable if we take the right steps to control the epidemic today.
